Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (1918-2013), Regi, known worldwide as “The Teacher”, currently teaches music in Nashville, TN and has taught many notable musicians. He was teaching his little brothers Joseph and Victor when he himself was only 9 years old.

Elijah Reginald Wooten is an American musician, songwriter, and teacher. He is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist best known for his guitar playing as part of the Wootens and for his brother Victor Wooten. He was born in New Regi Wooten’s signature guitar style of chording, slapping, tapping and frenzied strumming has earned him world-wide notoriety and comparisons to Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Chuck Berry. In recent years, Regi has performed with many artists including the legendary Ginger Baker.
Citizenship: Ghana. Guitarist Regi Wooten, nicknamed “the Teacher,” had started his extensive teaching career by age 9. His composing credits date back almost that far; he wrote the alma mater for the brothers.
Dedicated to the memory Regi Wooten started playing homemade instruments early on. At five years old, Regi and brothers Roy and Rudy, were seen dancing by James Brown, who pulled them up on stage to dance with him. When Regi was nine he started teaching his younger brother Victor bass and Joseph keyboards.
